Symptoms of Postencephalitis Syndrome
Symptoms are nonspecific and vary depending on the type of pathogen and the age of onset of infection. In the neurological picture, paresis, deafness, aphasia, apraxia, acalculia are possible. In an emotional state – apathy, organic asthenia. Decrease in ability to conclusions and judgments, loss of productivity. Insomnia and decreased appetite. Temporary social maladaptation due to cognitive deficit.
Diagnosis of Postencephalitis syndrome
Based on the identification of encephalitis in the residual period:
- General malaise, apathy, or irritability.
- Decreased cognitive functioning.
- Disorders of sleep and appetite.
- Changes in the sexual sphere and social judgment.
- Residual neurological symptoms.
Differential diagnosis
Diagnosis of organic personality disorders is based on anamnesis.
Postencephalitis Syndrome Treatment
Along with nootropics and tranquilizers, absorbable therapy is used.
